(5/01/2017) We have thought a lot about what we're going to do with the bannister. It doesn't fit in with the scheme of the house, but the price of replacing it is prohibitive. (Also we like to be able to hang our towels on it). So we've decided instead to style it.

All the wood in this house is covered in a beigeish paint which has to be removed and then sanded and then in this case we're decorating with wood moulding and this is the effect we're going for:
